our story
The Generations Food Pantry began in 2017 with a simple mission: to serve individuals and families facing food insecurity in Northern Kentucky. As one of the first organizations in Southern Kenton County to partner with Freestore Foodbank, we were able to provide food assistance to approximately 70 families each month.
When the pandemic began in 2020, the needs within our community grew significantly. As food insecurity increased, so did the need for additional support and resources. During that season, we began envisioning ways to expand both our capacity and our impact—strengthening community partnerships and broadening our services to care for people more holistically.
In January 2022, Generations GROW Network was launched, expanding our mission beyond food assistance to also include education and recovery support. Shortly after, rising inflation and worsening economic conditions created an even greater demand for services. By June 2022, GROW was serving more than 350 families through our food pantry, and the need has continued to grow.
